PRESS STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT MWANAWASA’S ILLNESS
On behalf of the Agricultural Community in Zambia and indeed on my own behalf, the Zambia National Farmers’ Union received the sudden illness of President Mwanawasa with shock. On the 18th June, 2008 we had a very fruitful three hour meeting with President Mwanawasa at State House. During this meeting, the President was in very good health. We discussed issues affecting agriculture and agreed on a road map which we are now trying to implement with our Mother Ministry, the Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives.
Receiving news of the sudden illness of President Mwanawasa was therefore very shocking. We are praying for the first family and for the quick recovery of the President.
