Zesco Limited has applied to increase electricity tariffs by an average of 26% across consumer categories effective November 2012 and future adjustments averaging 31%, 34% and 13% for 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively are also reflected. The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has put out the application to public scrutiny. Details of the revision of tariffs by customer category are reflected in the table below:-

The ZNFU is in the process of preparing the farmers’ position on the proposed increase in tariffs and we invite members to submit comments/views on the implication of this development on the agriculture sector by Thursday 13th September 2012. This will enable us to consolidate the various views and submit to the ERB by Friday 14th September, 2012 the deadline date.
