The ZRA through Zanaco, Access and Citibank last Friday 18th February 2011, launched a new service, the E-payment system for paying customs and excise duty on imported goods. It is now possible to avoid waiting in long queues by establishing the amount due and settling it through an e-transfer without having to move physically to go and transact.
If you have a bank account at Zanaco, Access and Citibank and you tend to import goods from time to time all you need to do is to inform your bank to link your account to the ZRA Customs database system where which you can access the amounts and authorize payment once the ZRA assessment is finalized. This mode of payment will be a continuous service, 24 hours, 7 days a week hence could save you time and transaction costs.
