The ZNFU 1st Vice President, Mr. Dave Gordon gave a Vote of Thanks to the Head of State, at the occasion of the commissioning of the new Saro Agro Industries Complex. In the vote of thanks speech, the Union raised three pertinent issues;
(1) High cost of production in Zambia and the need to take off VAT on all the agricultural input supplies,
(2) Need to put safeguard measures aimed at protecting the local agricultural industry for cheap imports, and
(3) Called upon the Head of State to urgently intervene in quickening the pace of creating new export markets, as it has become apparent that the local markets alone can no longer support the growth of the Zambian agricultural industry.
The Vice President also congratulated the Board and Management of Saro Agro Industries for the investment; a demonstrated commitment to the continued support of the farming community.
