The Zambia National Farmers’ Union would like to welcome the transfer of Honourable Peter Daka to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The Union holds the opinion that Honorable Daka is not a stranger to the Agricultural sector, and the farming community in particular. With the background of having worked in the agro processing industry, the milling and oil processing subsectors in particular, the Union strongly believes that the new Minister possesses adequate business interactions with the farmers and other members of the Union within the agricultural industry, which will make him, perform to the expectations of the Union and its diverse membership countrywide.
We therefore wish to welcome him to the sector and further congratulate him in his new portfolio because we believe that the new Minister has the requisite experience and charisma to drive the agricultural sector forward. The ZNFU pledges to support and work closely with him.
Further, the Union will before the end of this week hand over to the new Minister an Industry Dossier containing major issues which the Minister must focus on in order to improve the performance of the agriculture sector.
Additionally a meeting is being arranged between the new Minister and the Union expected to take place soon, where major policy issues are expected to be discussed regarding the future of the Zambian Agricultural Sector. Once again, the Union congratulates Honourable Daka and we wish him success in his new challenging position.
The ZNFU would also like to thank Honourable Dr. Brian Chituwo for his contribution to the agricultural sector during his tour of duty at the Ministry and the Union wishes him well in his new position.
