ZNFU, ZFEA and ZFE meet the Labour Minister

On Wednesday 23rd February 2011, the ZNFU Team led by Mr. Jervis Zimba met the Minister of Labour and Social Security where discussions were held on various concerns regarding farm labour and sought clarification and Government’s official position on the recently  issued Statutory Instrument  No. 2 on Minimum Wages and Conditions of Employment Act.

ZNFU’S Press Reaction to the Recent Increase in Fuel Prices

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) announced a fuel price increase of about 13% on average or by K866.66 per litre on petrol, diesel and kerosene effective midnight on 11th February, 2011. In justifying the increase, the Energy Regulation Board gave reasons,see press statements on this site.

 

 

44 Million More In Poverty Due To Skyrocketing Food Prices

The World Bank has released its Food Price Watch for February, citing estimates that suggest an additional 44 million people may have fallen into poverty in low- and middle-income countries due to the rise in food prices since June 2010. The overall global rise in food prices has been driven by increases in the prices of wheat, maize, sugar, and fats and oils.

Minister of Finance to Meet Wheat Stakeholders

The Industry Stakeholders for the wheat value chain will on Thursday 24th February 2011 this week meet Hon. Dr. Musokotwane, the  Minister of Finance and National Planning at the Ministry Headquarters at 10:00 hours.  As earlier reported last week that during the wheat stakeholders meeting held on 14th February 2011 the meeting mandated the ZNFU to secure a meeting with the Minister in order to discuss the VAT issue on entire wheat value chain

ZNFU Meets the Swedish Ambassador
